A short tale of discoveries and lovely evenings.
Yes, It happened. And yes, It was exciting. And No… You are not going to get any sleazy details you sneaky… you. But you know I like you guys, so who knows?
How good was it? It was awesome, mind-blowing, the true distilled essence of joy… I was a little nervous at first (add that to my list of classic understatements), wondering what to say, if the words were just right. Was the mood perfect, was the lighting great, was I ready for this… I mean , it was a big deal.
Some say confidence is the key… The ability to face down your situation and take it on like a Matador facing the bull, your red cape billowing in the dusty wind of life’s arena. The boldness to step forward into the unknown, to leap blind-folded into the abyss.
And here the moment was, And I took the step.
It started off slowly. A thought here, a nuance there, a heavily punctuated silence to fill the air of concentration. The words felt natural, the conversation real, the ambience was right and oh, how time flew. It was all coming together… The moment… The silence… The silent smile that lit my face as I looked….
And I realized I had found it… What I had sought… How had I been blind all this time? How had I not seen the wondrous gift that right in front of me. It was one of those moments where clarity and confusion co-exist in the same space in some whirling, tumbling, mediocre dance of thought. It was all so clear yet so un-clear, the depths of the ocean into which I was to dive.
But what bold man does not face his challenge? Did Hercules back away? No. Did Odysseus? Jason? The Pantheon of universally accepted Greek Heroes? No. And so I went ahead and dived…
The second step was taken with apprehension. I lifted the pen, bit my lip and began. The pen met the paper… The words started flowing…. The story was written… And oh, what a story!!
And so the evening passed… A man, his pen and his paper, entwined in the oldest love triangle to ever plague the human condition.
