Beloved Sara,
Here’s another poem for the night, I hope it finds you alright. And though it starts with rhyme, Do not be fooled this time. For it quickly degenerates To a type of twisted prose With no specific beat, With no specific meter, Just words and vague metaphor, Like: “Rock, Paper, and oh look, a Scissor”
Here’s another poem for the night, And it’s self-aware alright. It speaks vaguely of sleep and slumber, In words profound in volume and number. Of the seductive whisper Of the quiet night skies. Of the sweet sinking sands Of sleep’s slumbering land.
Here’s another poem for the night, Perhaps speaking of dreams and fright. Of the distance between the sweet and the sour, Dreams you love and those that wake you at the third hour. Perhaps it ventures to wish upon you, Dreams of a sweet quality too. Oh crap! Is that Rhyme showing its face? I guess it’s time to change the pace.
Here’s another poem for the night, A gentle wish to a listening ear, Of slumber sweet and dreams long, And quiet moments broke only by morning’s song. Of gentle moonbeams peeking through windows, To illuminate heads on their pillows. And light up dreams With fire and music, With dance and song, With hope and wonder. Till the dark passes, And gives way to the sun divine. Do you praise the sun? Well, here’s some Sunshine.
Here’s another poem for the night, I hope it finds you alright.
Yours, Always, Lawrence
