Welcome to Adulthood Sorry, did you think this was going to be fun? Some joyous ride across the landscape of age? Some gentle cascade down the slopes of sense and into the bright sunset?

No. It will hurt. It will kick. It will drag you out of bed screaming in the morning and sucker punch you in the evening just to knock you out. It will always promise, only to underdeliver on the good and overdeliver on the bad. It will take your small joys and crush them underfoot. It will find those secrets under your bed and fling them into the light. Let’s not even get started on your closet.

It will hunt down your passions and stick the knife of dispassionate reality in their necks. It will seek your hopes and dreams and dash them on the rocks of the daily mundane. It will lock up your spontaneity behind walls of anxiety, It will take a crap on your self-esteem and smear the same sh** on your reputation just to spite you. It will slowly wheedle its way into your every waking thought. Your every waking moment will be slowly consumed. Slowly stolen. Slowly disappear with every tick of the clock.

So I ask you to fight back. To see the beauty in every moment. To see the sunrise and kiss every morning. To meet every encounter with presence. To take every challenge with courage To leap over the oncoming boulders  And when mountains are thrown your way, to sprout wings and soar over them. To find yourself and give the world the finger because there are 7 billion of us f**kers and you’re beautiful. To grab each day and make it yours. To kiss every sunset goodnight and cheat on the sun with the moon because you love them both with equal intensity. To dance to the sound of falling water in the shower. To sing along to the melody of your soul. To pick up the pieces of your dashed dreams and piece them together with hope To charge forth into the unknown. To take each day as an adventure,  And you, the hero,  Unstoppable.
